“FOR THE EARTH
WHICH DRINKETH IN THE
RAIN THAT COMETH OFTEN
UPON IT, AND BRINGETH FORTH
HERBS FIT FOR THEM BY WHOM
IT IS DRESSED, RECEIVETH
BLESSINGS FROM GOD”
MEET CASSY LYNN
I have always been aware of the natural world around me; as a little girl, I would walk the stone pathways of my mamas gardens learning the names, mostly by taste or smell, of those beloved herbs that tenderly caught my attention. I would spend countless summer afternoons rambling in the woods exploring the secret realm of flora & fauna until the sun was set low into the West bidding me farewell until the next time.
But it wasn’t until my early 20’s that my childhood curiosity matured into a deep passion to understand the healing elements of the herbal world. It was during my own efforts, and continued failures, to conceive that I began to seek out the knowledge within the herbal community
It all began with the wisdom and ways of the Wise Woman, growing and wildcrafting various herbs to make simple teas and tinctures that would support and nourish my body. The more I learned the more I recognized the inherent knowledge that was hidden deep within, but it would take years until I allowed myself to fully understand and trust the wisdom on an intuitive level
It was through my own journey that the healers path revealed herself. I began formal studies in 2013 with renowned herbalist Rosemary Gladstar through Sage Mountain in Vermont and continued with Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine & One Willow Apothecaries in 2018. My focus is in women & children’s herbals
The Oak is a symbol of life, strength, wisdom & community with her acorns being a symbol of fertility. A full moon is a time when healing potential is at it’s peak & a rising moon announces the promise of a new beginning.
According to Celtic folklore, the Oak Moon is at the height of Midsummer during Summer Solstice when the day is long and when the growth of all things is encouraged. It is said that the Oak is a haven for restoration & inner peace.
The Apothecary at Oak Moon Rising Herbals is closed
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to you for your loyalty and patronage and it has been through your support that Oak Moon Rising was able to sustain her many moons
Many shifts are taking place, not just for me personally, but throughout the herbal community. Since opening Oak Moon Rising in 2013, I have watched the landscape change drastically amidst the ever-expanding realm of social media & online business structure. One is constantly attempting to keep up with algorithms in order to be seen and if not performed correctly makes it almost impossible to be supported in a way that is financially sustainable
For me personally, 2019 has been the hardest year I have ever endured. The path to family planning has left our hearts broken, our arms empty and financially over burdened. It has become quite obvious that we can no longer survive on one stable income, payoff the debt we incurred and continue to personally fund an unsupported herbal business. The anxiety is presently too overwhelming to ask for anything more of myself
And so it is with any adventure through life, one must take a moment to pause and re-exam ones path in life. I am unsure of what the future holds, but I remain hopeful it will be one of abundant blessings for us all
