This year I decided to go back to my roots and play around with plant dyes and what better way to experiment than with Easter eggs! By the time I was done, I had an entire counter full of dye pots and 3 dozen eggs showing off their different vibrant hues. All created from flowers, berries, barks & roots
Blacks, Purples, Blues & Greens
Golds, Yellows & Browns
Calendula & Chamomile Flower
Red Clover Blossom
Oranges & Reds
Notes to Consider
Next time I will use Alkanet Root to get a deep red color. Plant dyes are not like food coloring dyes, so when removing the egg from the dye pot; Pat, DO NOT RUB, the egg dry or you risk losing all your color. For best results and deeper color, leave eggs in the dye pots for 12-24 hours.
